Heather and I stopped over at our favorite watering hole in Charleston, The Noisy Oyster, and had a few before starting the last minute packing...I saw a guy who was smoking Marlboros next to me...He was taking the cigarettes out of the bottom...Weird huh? Well I asked him why and he told me it was because he had spent a lot of time in South America...that when people wanted to bum cigarettes they would put their fingers on the tobacco end thus not tainting the filters that he would have his lips on...Good thinking...well his story gets even more interesting he spent some time doing counterterrorism and was with Oliver North when they captured the hijackers of Achille Lauro...He then told me that only recently he had run into one of the former hijackers who was living down the road in Hanahan...after he had gotten out of incarceration he relocated to SC to start a new life...They have budded a friendship...Now he is on his way to Iraq as an independent contractor for a year...I wish him well...It's funny what you learn from asking a guy why he takes cigarettes out of the bottom.
